She Can Fly!

Last weekend (the Canada Day "long" weekend) it was so bloody hot we took advantage of Auntie Debbie's pool a couple of times and took Adelyn swimming. The very first time we took her swimming was last year on Canada Day, so we thought we'd repeat the tradition.
After a little bit of hesitance (as there is every time she goes in a pool) she had a blast!
I bought her a little pink car floatie that she absolutely loves, and so she played in that for a bit, laughing so hard every time we honked the horn :)
Then we also went from sitting on the edge of the pool and "diving" in, to standing on the edge of the pool and "jumping" in. Oh, she just couldn't get enough of that! When Jordyn was there in her turtle floatie she just kept looking up at Adelyn as she jumped off the edge with such amazement! It's so cute to watch!
When Andrew finally decided to get in the pool and cool down Adelyn clung to him. Somehow the jumping off the edge game turned into being tossed a million feet in the air and it quickly became her new favourite thing ever! I honestly don't know who had more fun with it; Andrew, Adelyn or any of the spectators on the side!

In pregnancy news I whipped out to Guilford Mall on Thursday and hit the maternity clothes jackpot! I got two pairs of shorts and two tank tops from Motherhood Maternity and then scored and got a t-shirt, a tank top, a jean skirt, jean shorts and a pair of black shorts from the maternity section in Old Navy- so YAY! I finally have something to wear in this weather! I'm SO excited! lol.

Return of the Buddha Belly!

Since the first belly pictures I took of my pregnancy with Adelyn was at the 24 week mark, I figured I might as well do the same for this pregnancy.

So here's what my current Buddha Belly looks like:

And here's a comparison to the 24 week belly I was sporting last time around:

Pretty similar... except that my belly button is already sticking out this time around!
Everything else is the same with this pregnancy too- I still feel great! I've gained about the same amount of weight, (although I started 5 lbs. heavier and a lot less "firm" we'll say) but I seem to be growing at the same rate.

However, being pregnant in the summer is a lot less fun when it comes to clothes than in the fall! I feel like I have NOTHING to wear! It's very frustrating, but hopefully soon I will find some skirts/shorts that will fit and will help keep me cool. And thank God for a/c! We just got installed last Monday and it's glorious!

She Must Be Growing!

Our little baby Adelyn must be going through some sort of growth spurt because she seems to have lost a lot of coordination! This last week has seen more spills than the last 6 months of walking combined!

Just yesterday alone she bumped her head on tables while walking/running by, simply tripped over her own feet, misjudged the length of her bed and dove head-first into her headboard, fell off her bed while playing and slipped on a picture laying on the kitchen floor, bashed her head and cut her lip. ¡Ay caramba!

The cut lip has been the first "injury" where blood was present and it took every ounce of strength in me not to bawl my head off and freak out! After Adelyn hit the floor she started crying immediately. I picked her up and held her close with her head buried in my chest. When she stopped crying and looked up I noticed the blood. She was fine by this point, but I was ready to lose it! Seeing your baby bleed is apparently incredibly painful!
Luckily, I was able to contain my panic and got a cold cloth and we got her all cleaned up and she was no worse for the wear.

On another note Adelyn's vocabulary is growing immensely! She already has a huge list of words, but this last week has picked up (and uses on her own)

That's all I can remember off the top of my head, but it's shocking how much she can say! She's even starting to string a couple words together. Usually "Where's mama?" or "Baby's hat" or something like that.

She's also a giant fan of either tickling you and running away, teasing you by offering a kiss (and then running away) or playing "Where's Ady?" and then jumping out to say "Boo!" and will immediately sign and say "more!" after each event, making the game last forever.

I've said it a million times before, but I don't care about being repetitive, she's simply brilliant and a huge joy to have around. She never ceases to amaze us with her lively personality or cuteness and we count our blessings everyday to have her in our lives.

Adelyn the Builder

Adelyn's "big girl" bed is finally complete! As we've come to realize, Adelyn absolutely loves to build things with Andrew. Anytime he pulls out a screwdriver to do something handy around the house she wants to get right in there and help him. So she was obviously very excited about putting her big-girl bed together (again, I think she was more excited about the building part than about the actual bed.) So the two of them grabbed the screwdriver and allan keys and got down to work. Well, it was too cute to not photograph, so here are the pictures of Ady and Andrew building her new bed!

Three mattresses later (a long story with multiple screw-ups on both sides) her bed is now completely set up and she's sleeping on it and looking oh-so adorable.

The bed (and matching dresser) is a beautiful antique white, but now blends in almost completely with the walls, so we'll be buying a gallon of soft pink paint to slap on the walls in the next month or so.

That's it for Adelyn news... as far as her little brother or sister goes, he/she is also an aspiring soccer player! I've been getting kicked a lot more frequently lately and even though Andrew hasn't actually felt any kicking yet I think he probably could right now.

I'm still feeling great, except for the fact that I feel like I'm inflating! My belly's much bigger than I remember it being last time. With the first pregnancy I took my first set of pics at 24 weeks, so I'll be doing the same with this one so I can compare. Stay tuned for that!

That's it for now. I've been asking Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun to please shine down on me, but he hasn't been paying too much attention to my pleas. I think I'm going to go over his head and ask the big buy instead. I can't handle anymore grey skies!!!

Return to Hell's Gate

It's been 11 months and so we thought we should make another trip out to Hell's Gate. We packed up the lil one and met up with Jim, Lynnette, Jorja and Andrew Sunday morning for a day of fun, despite the rainy weather.

What a difference a year (11 months) makes! Last year was spent carrying Adelyn around in the snuggly and this year was spent chasing her around as she toddled all over the place!

Although there isn't a ton to do there (mostly just a lot to see) it's a great place for pictures, and so of course, we took advantage of that!

PS- The night following my post about how great Adelyn is sleeping in her bed she had the worst night ever! She went to sleep fairly easily and then when I went to check on her she was sleeping on the floor. So Andrew came to put her back in the bed she woke up and cried for what seemed like an hour, and wasn't able to be consoled. Eventually we just had to close the door and leave her in her room to cry. She eventually fell asleep, but woke up and started crying at 4:00 a.m. I finally went in the room to get her at about 6:00 a.m. and found her lying on her back in the middle of the room crying even though she was asleep! Very weird! She was very cranky that day too (needless to say). BUT, thankfully she's gone back to normal and has been sleeping (at bed and naps) really well. I think she was just mad that Andrew was gone for a few days on a fishing trip, as she's been really good since then. Hopefully she stays a good sleeper!
