Adelyn's Baptism
Dad, Mom, Adelyn, Opa and Oma

OK, so I'm really getting bad at this blogging thing. Does anybody even read this anymore? I guess I owe it to Adelyn to keep the journal going for a little while longer anyway, as there are a lot of changes happening in her brand new little life.

So, to catch up...
  • Mother's Day! I had my very first mothers day this year- how exciting! It really made me appreciate what it means to be a good mother, and what a great mother I'm blessed to have. We had a very busy day with church, visiting Andrew's mom and then mine, but I did get to indulge in my very own Mother's Day ice-cream cake and I got the sweetest card from my sweet little angel (with the help of her dad I'm sure). So all in all it was a good day. Maybe next year I'll use that day to rest though, it was pretty busy this year!
  • 1st Shots. The day after Mother's Day were Adelyn's first immunizations. She got four (count em four) needles for everything from Measles to Pneumonia. OUCH! Who decided to give a new baby four needles at one time? Better yet, who decided to make a new mom hold her baby down for four needles!?! Actually, Adelyn did very well. She only kinda cried and not for very long. And surprisingly, I didn't cry either! I think it helped that Adelyn was such a big girl about it. I swear if she cried I would've been a blubbering fool. But really, it was a good thing to give her the shots, because it's important to protect her. I just heard recently about the Mumps being spread at a college in the Maritimes. Looks like the government was smart about finally adding that to the vaccines.

  • Birth-weight x 2! Adelyn's officially doubled her birth weight. (Was there ever any doubt?) She hit the 14 lb. mark about 2 weeks ago, and has been growing surprisingly slower ever since. But she's very healthy of course, and who can resist a tubby little baby with those cute chubby cheeks?

  • It's soooo hot! It's officially summer. Well, it's officially summer heat. This last week has been painful for the little one. She's so hot and uncomfortable, we're so hot and uncomfortable and holding her to try and comfort her only makes us both even more hot! But there is good news; we're getting central Air Conditioning installed on Tuesday, June 5th! I can't wait! No more being forced to hang out in the basement and fighting to try and get Adelyn to calm down enough to go to sleep. This is a great thing and I'm soooo excited!

  • Adelyn's Baptism. We had Adelyn baptised last Sunday (May 27) and she did sooo well! She wore the cutest little white dress and didn't cry at all! I think she actually liked the water part! My Oma and Opa (her great grand-parents) are her God Parents which is great. We're so lucky to have them in our lives and be there for Adelyn. We had our families back to our place afterwards for some snacks and it turned out to be a great day. And Adelyn's quite the superstar church-goer. She doesn't cry or fuss- we're pretty lucky!

  • Bath time Surprise. Well, I have had a couple baths with Adelyn lately, as she's had a bit of troubling getting to bed at night (thanks to the heat), but she does seem to really enjoy the bath. So, to make the bath a bit longer (in hopes of it settling her enough to fall asleep), I've been having some baths with her. We have a great time, she enjoys the bubbles. But there is a problem... she's pooped in the bath (with me in it) three of the last four times! The first time I had just called Andrew up to take a picture of her with the bubbles when she suddenly makes a funny face and then I look down and, yup, just as I suspected, it's time to drain the bath because this one isn't going to get either of us clean! So I drained the bath (and cleaned it) and then filled it up again, only to have her poop again! She's lucky I found it mostly funny and not so gross, because otherwise she'd be going to bed with only a poopy-bath to have cleaned her. But luckily I was able to fill it up a third time and get a quick (I'm not letting it happen a third time) cleaning done and get her out of there. Last night's bath was good, we both came out un-scathed. But tonight, same deal. And I don't even know how long we were having a poopy bath for because the bath bubbles stuck around longer this time. Ew... Anyway, I drained and cleaned the tub, filled it back up and we were able to have a nice clean bath together. She's funny...

I think that's about it for catching up. I'm roasting away right now, as it was 30 degrees today and our computer room is on the third floor with a west-facing window. Ah... I can't wait for the air conditioning!
Anyway, hopefully I'll be back on track now with this blogging thing, so I have a little record to our little dear to look back on.

Cheers,
