Adelyn's officially smiling away! And these smiles are now real, genuine, "I'm happy" smiles- not just the gas variety. They are sooo sweet it makes me giggle :)
She's smiling and cooing and making so many adorable noises, it sometimes seems like she's trying to laugh too. Too cute.
She's also becoming more and more aware of her surroundings and will follow us with her eyes around the room and look in the directions of our voices to see where we are.
And what about sleep? Well, we started a bedtime routine with a nice bath, and then a massage with the baby lotion, followed by getting into her pj's and then cuddling with mom or dad, nursing and then going to bed. We've put her down for three nights in a row like this and she's doing very well. She'll even go down awake and just amuse herself until she falls asleep. She still wakes a couple times through the night to eat, but she just eats and then goes right back to sleep, so it's definitely tolerable!
She had her 6 week checkup last Thursday and everything went well. She weighs 12 lbs. (!!!) and is 22 3/4 inches long. So, according to the growth charts she's in the 75 percentile for her weight and the 90th for her length. Her head measures in at the 50th percentile (I don't understand the head measurement part and where it fits in with the rest) so Dr. Tingey guesses she'll end up in the 50% area for weight but will be nice and long. Tall and thin? We'll take it!
We're all adjusting nicely to being a family and can't imagine life without her! As Andrew said the other day, having Adelyn is the best thing we've done!
Anyway, that's it for now... Adelyn's having her nap so I think I might have a shower :)

Adelyn's First Month
Happy first month birthday to Adelyn! Wow- she's been a part of our lives for a whole month?!? Where did the time go?
We've spent much of the last month watching her change from a tiny little helpless baby into a little person who's personality grows with each and every day... and who's little body is growing quickly as well!
She's coming around and quite enjoying the bath, and one of our favourite things to do is call Andrew at work after the bath and update him with her weight. She's had no problem with nursing and is growing even faster than is expected (which is a good thing)... as of yesterday she weighs in at 10 lbs. 5 oz.! Crazy!

She's still the queen of making faces and making noises... right as she's drifting off to sleep she goes through about 10 different faces and emotions, making it pretty hard to not stare at her!

I just realized the other day that with the weight gain, she really is getting bigger (duh). I put on, make that, tried to put on a couple outfits the other day and she's already outgrown them! I can't believe it, because they honestly were way to big just the other day. It's kinda sad knowing she's really not going to stay this size...
I also did her footprints the other day, as I got a footprint making kit/frame from a friend of Andrew's family. And as you can see, her feet are way bigger than the sample newborns feet! We both commented on how long her feet were when she was born, but seeing them next to another newborns feet really makes them look big! We got some clay today from Marissa so we'll hopefully be making clay hand and foot prints for keepsakes soon as well.
Anyway, that's all for now. More updates on our ever-growing little one as they come.

Our Baby's Growing Up!
Wow- a lot can sure change in three short weeks! We can already see sooo many changes in Adelyn, it's crazy!
First of all, her face is starting to look more and more like a little face. Her hair is lightening up a bit, she lost her umbilical cord stump, she can hold her head up for an impressive amount of time and she's packing on the ounces too!
We saw Dr. Tingey last Wednesday (March 28) and she was 8 lbs, 4.5 oz.! That's up from 6 lbs, 15 oz. in just 9 days! And then I weighed her yesterday before her bath and she was up to 8 lbs, 12.5 oz.! So apparently I'm producing cream and butter and not milk!
Everyday we're getting to know each other more and more and it's quite fun. Andrew called from work the other day and I put the phone up to her ear and she kept looking and searching in the direction of the phone for him. It was so cute!
And her little personality is shining through more and more each day as well. She's going to give Jim Carey a run for his money when it comes to making faces. It's pretty entertaining to sit there and just watch her face for about a 1/2 hour... you'll see just about every expression imaginable!
She's also getting to be more and more alert during her waking hours (aside from yesterday's day-long snooze fest), but of course she can zonk right out as soon as she cuddles on the couch with her dad. They're a professional napping team. It's pretty adorable. I think I have about 100 pictures of them sleeping together on the couch. (I'm not exaggerating!)
