Sleeping Through the Night!

I'm so excited to say that Adelyn is finally sleeping through the night!!! It's been a long time coming (a year to be exact) but as of Monday, March 17th she's slept every night from about 7:00 pm until 7:00 am the next morning!
It's so revitalizing to go to bed and not get up until the morning!
She does (on occasion) wake up and fuss for a minute or two, but since I haven't been going into her room to comfort her she's been falling back asleep right away. It's an absolutely glorious thing!
Now I know I could've curbed her night wakings a lot earlier by just letting her cry it out, but I was never able to, which makes me think I just wasn't ready for it. Sounds strange I know, but it was way easier for me to get up with her for 3 minutes than to try and sleep through it as she screamed bloody murder from her crib. And to be fair, she didn't really scream, but in the middle of the night when you're soooooo tired it sure seems like screaming.
I'm just so proud of her right now, and I'm so rested! It came at the perfect time too, because I really need my sleep in order to get up for work in the mornings.
Work is going ok by the way. Adelyn's doing really well during the day, which makes it way easier for me to leave her. I really look forward to the end of the day though, when I get to play with her for an hour or so before dinner/bath/bed.
Anyway, that's about it for now... I have pictures of Adelyn's birthday party to post, but don't have time right now... I should get to that later this week though.

Cheers,
a very well rested,

Happy 1st Birthday, Adelyn!

Wow- it's been a whole year already?!?!? It's been the absolute best year anyone could imagine. Our sweet baby girl has gone from a helpless, tiny newborn to a bouncing, exciting, running, wonderful, talkative, smart and funny toddler! Adelyn truly is the single greatest thing to happen to either of us and we're so thankful and blessed to have her as our daughter.
Andrew took the day off work today so we could all spend Adelyn's first birthday together. She got up this morning and toddled out into the living room where I had hung a banner and some balloons. She was so impressed with the balloons it took her nearly an hour to notice the presents sitting on the table for her!

After opening her presents (a duck, a fish, a rolling giraffe, some clothes, a hair clip, a dancing/singing birthday monkey and a stuffed doll and pea pod called Sweet Pea) she had some breakfast and got loaded up for the very first time in her big girl (forward facing) car seat and we headed off to the Vancouver Aquarium for a fun day of looking at the fish!

Adelyn quite enjoyed her new car seat and you could tell she felt pretty good about facing forward. She kept a good eye on the traffic too- very impressed to be able to see so much!

The aquarium was a great time! There were so many fish of all shapes and sizes to be adored! You could hear many "oohs!" and "wows" coming from Adelyn's mouth as she pointed to all the colorful and playful fish! It was so cute! It was really nice to be able to wheel her stroller right up to the glass walls so she could get up nice and close to everything. It was the perfect place to bring her for her birthday!

Her favourite part of the whole place was probably the sea otters. We spent a lot of time watching them (from above and below water) rolling, diving, wrestling and playing around! The otters were having a great time and so was Adelyn watching them!

We finally left the aquarium and headed home for a wonderful stew dinner (Adelyn's favourite) following by her very first piece of cake! (make that her very first sweet thing ever.) While she didn't really eat much of the cake, she sure made a great show of smashing it in her face and all over her high chair! I think she enjoyed playing with it (and our reaction to her playing with it) more than actually eating it!

All in all it was a great day- and it's been a fantastic year! While it's hard to believe our tiny little baby girl is now one year old, it's very exciting!

So Happy 1st Birthday, Adelyn! We hope you had a great day (and first year!). We love you so much!

A, M & A

PS- Happy 21st Birthday to (Auntie) Lindsay too!

One Week to Go...

Ok, ok, so I realize I've been slacking a little bit in the blog writing. But I feel like I haven't had much new to write. Maybe it's that I'm saving all my blog-writing energy and creativity for Adelyn's "First Birthday" blog? Yeah, that's what it is.
Well, besides being the cutest little thing ever, Adelyn's got to be among the smartest as well! She can go get and bring back to me nearly every single toy she has (even the new Little People bus she got less than a week ago), she can even bring me the pink ball or the soccer ball, or the little soccer ball too! And she's blowing kisses and saying a TON of words and is just the best little girl ever. We're still so amazed by how wonderful she is!

So, like I said above, I'm saving all my energy for a good post in a weeks time, but at the very least I'll include some pictures we took the other day for my mom's birthday. Adelyn absolutely loves her baby cousin "Dordyn" so I'll be sure to get a copy of one of these pictures for her bedroom!

Enjoy!
Oh and here's a picture of Adelyn and her friend, Arianna, on our front lawn- check out Adelyn's shades! She's so cool!
Cheers,
A, M & A
